Tess Kenner is an accomplished commercial producer and an up-and-coming documentary producer.
Tess recently worked on the development of a six-part series about Pharma for This Machine Filmworks and Showtime. She was instrumental in the areas of deep research, building a narrative approach, and casting.
Prior to this, Tess produced and executive produced television commercials for Goodby Silverstein & Partners, a renowned advertising agency in San Francisco. She worked on high end brands such as Adobe Photoshop, BMW, and the NBA. Her work has received many awards including a Cannes Lion. Her spots have aired on the Superbowl and the Oscars, and have been archived at The Museum of Modern Art.
Tess has experience producing commercials with A-list celebrity talent, complex set builds, explosives, stunt choreography, international filming, CG animation, 2-D animation, licensed footage and artwork, real people casting, and more. She has managed budgets ranging from $5,000 to $10,000,000.
Before working in advertising, Tess held a variety of roles in the documentary field. She associate produced and researched on projects for HBO, NPR, PBS, as well as for Participant Media’s Oscar nominated feature Food, Inc.
Tess earned her BA in History and Spanish from UC Berkeley, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
